How to keep the solar customers you’ve won

Did you know some solar businesses lose 33% of their customers between sale and installation.

Customers get cold feet or “buyers remorse” for any number of reasons. It could just be that they’ve ‘cooled off’ from the excitement of the purchase, or that their spouse has concerns. Or perhaps they’ve just had second thoughts.

It can take a long time from sale to installation. Whether that be due to network connection approvals, waiting for stock, arranging the necessary paperwork, installer availability, or for the right weather.

You don’t want to waste all your hard work attracting the customer, educating them, meeting them, and closing the sale, only to have them back out, leaving you with the hassle of refunding their deposit and having lost money in the process.

You need to keep the customers’ excitement levels up during this period.

How to keep your customers’ excitement levels up as they cross the chasm

How you ask?

  • Remind them how good it will feel to get a solar power system.
  • Remind them how they’ll save money and no longer open their electricity bill with dread.
  • Remind them that they’re contributing to a better planet.
  • Remind them that they’re part of a social movement: the democratisation of energy.

Ahh, another opportunity for email automation. Remember to space those emails out, as you don’t know in advance exactly when they’ll be installed. AND whatever you do, make sure you stop sending those emails as soon as their installation is complete to maintain your professionalism.

Sunfluence’s email automation includes a sequence for customers crossing the chasm between sale and installation.
